Over the past two weeks, our new participants have been undergoing their driver training and certification in preparation for our launch at the end of the month.
Drivers’ licenses, car registration and other barriers to entry leave a vast majority in a position to not be able to afford any type of motor transport. On top of this, women drivers are a minority in urban and rural areas, but e-mobility is an opportunity to change that, empowering millions of women and making mobility safer and more efficient.
It has been so great to see the excitement of the women who have been learning how to drive the Hamba. It is vital that they receive all of the necessary training in order to operate our vehicles safely and confidently.
We were also very excited to learn that we now have one of our oldest participants joining the Mobility for Africa family! Theresa Tambara is 83 but doesn’t let her age stop her. She joined in the driving lessons with the rest of the ladies and proved to be an excellent driver herself. We can’t wait to see how her improved personal mobility and access to transport will alter her day to day life.
